St Louis

We arrived in St Louis yesterday in the late afternoon after two short hops on Southwest Airlines via Chicago Midway. It's the first time I've been in the smaller of the two Chicago airports and it made a pleasant change from the sprawling O'Hare. We had great views of the Chicago skyline on landing and takeoff. A search for some healthy food in the airports proved fruitless; one can find great food in the US but there is also an unbelievable amount of junk food. The weather has taken an autumnal turn with temperatures now in the 50s - around 10C - and there is some rain.

The boys went off with hosts, one obviously well-heeled lady taking eight of them! As I write they are visiting downtown St Louis with the staff and taking the train up to the top of the Gateway Arch.

It's back to work this afternoon with a slightly longer rehearsal to prepare the new programme. The Cathedral has such a resonant acoustic that it's difficult to hear music with any clarity, and the mosaics are... - well, I'll post some photos and let you decide for yourselves!

My hotel elevator has a button marked 'Earthquake' - gosh!
