American Friends

This evening the American Friends hosted a reception for the adult members of the choir at the Millennium UN Plaza Hotel over on First Avenue. The guest of honour and speaker was Archbishop George Stack. Each time we have visited New York (2001 & 2006) the American Friends have hosted a reception to help raise the profile of the Cathedral in the USA and to draw attention to its unique music programme.  Una Chang, the Friends' chairman, welcomed everyone, then Archbishop Stack drew attention to the Song School project - we are raising a large sum of money towards a major refurbishment of the song school and to update its facilities - and also talked about the ongoing work to complete the cathedral's mosaic. After all the hard work involved in pulling together such a big tour, often staying in the office until the early hours of the morning, we were all delighted that Aoife Daly, Music Administrator, made it over to New York to see some of the fruits of her labours.
